Many kind of Indonesian dances found in Indonesia reflected the rich diversity of Indonesian people. Most of traditional dance are age old traditional. There is some newly created dances. The newly created dance could be the rediscovery and revival of lost old tradition or a new interpretation.
Each ethnic in Indonesia has own traditional dance. There some dances from Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatera will describe :

Jepen dance from Kalimantan

Tari Jepen improve by by Kutai and Banjar Etcnich who live near Mahakam river. This dance has function as an intertaiment in the ceremony of inauguration of the king of Kesultanan Kutai kartanegara. in Tenggarong and also as a interaction of young people for example to  make a promise, to know each other and ectetra. Since 1970 this traditional dance use for welcoming the guest, married.

Tari Tanadoang from Sulawesi

Tanadoang dance use for welcoming the visitor and use in some ceremony in Sulawesi. There is two male dancer come to the stage open the performance follow by the female dance bring the sarong and kipas. The female dance make a formation and use Kipas to make the beautiful movement.

Tari Tor-tor from North Sumatera

Tor-Tor dance used in rituals associated with spirits, where spirits are summoned and enter to the statues of stone ( a symbol of ancestors), then the statue was move like dancing but his movements stiff. The movement includes the movement of feet (toe-toe) and hand movements. This dance used at inauguration of the King.
